One of the herbs most revered by Druids was meadowsweet. It is frequently linked to love magic. Sadly, the enchanted union in the Mabinogion that inspired these attributes did not endure. Meadowsweet might not be the best place to find wedded bliss, but perhaps a passionate but brief affair. It can be used to tune into the realm of fairies and is also linked to the gifts of courage and protection.
 
Meadowsweet's salicylic acid compound makes this herb a potential pain reliever, especially for arthritic and rheumatic conditions. It helps ease heartburn, stomach ulcers and other inflammatory conditions. It can also be used to control diarrhoea and is mild enough to be given to children. It is strongly diaphoretic and diuretic and is very effective in breaking fevers.
